Autonomy Expands into New Markets Through New Partnerships

Cambridge, England. (December 20, 1999) - Autonomy Corporation plc today announced that it has signed partnership agreements with new partners specializing in Internet solutions for vertical and horizontal markets across the U.S. and Europe. These integrators will promote Autonomy as the core technology infrastructure for solutions to their clients and will extend Autonomy's reach into several new markets.

Autonomy's unique ability to extract the meaning from text (independent of the language or format) enables Autonomy partners to power solutions that eliminate the most costly and inefficient operations in building and maintaining an effective e-business infrastructure - the automatic categorization, tagging, hypertext linking and personalization of text-based information.

The integrators that have signed up in the U.S include:

Technology Services Group (TSG), a Chicago-based technology solutions company, focuses on providing Web-based document and knowledge management solutions. TSG, an alliance partner with Documentum, Inc., is currently building an interface between Documentum EDMS and Autonomy. This new interface will allow customers to use Autonomy's unique pattern-matching capabilities to manage and access documents stored in the Documentum repository.

Kanda Software builds commercial Internet, intranet and extranet applications for corporations seeking to web-enable their business. Kanda-built applications will integrate Autonomy with existing enterprise information infrastructures to provide new ways to distribute and access information. Based in Concord, MA, Kanda focuses on providing solutions to the Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Energy and Utilities markets.

Inner Vision Technologies, a leading provider of customer relationship management and knowledge management solutions, will use Autonomy to deliver personalized portals. Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, Inner Vision Technologies services clients throughout the US and is a pioneer at using Internet and workflow technology to help companies with sales force, marketing and customer service automation solutions.

New European partners include:

Blue-c.com, a leading integrator with operations across Europe, will promote Autonomy's technology as the core infrastructure for their solutions and products which include database applications, personalized services, community specific tools and mobile services based on the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). Blue-c.com clients include: Bank Austria, Deutsche Telekom and Mobilkon.

NVision, recently voted the CBI's Most Promising Young Company, has been recruited as a strategic implementation partner, providing Autonomy's technology as a part of their e-commerce, knowledge management, content management and CRM solutions. NVision clients include: Waterstones, Thomas Cook and Granada Media Group.

Clever Media, a wholly owned subsidiary of WPP Group plc, will be implementing and promoting Autonomy's technology as the infrastructure for new media and ecommerce sites. Clever Media clients include: P&O Stena Line, DfEE and Nortel Networks.

"In the new Information Economy, companies must increase their operating efficiencies if they want to be competitive." said Dr. Mike Lynch, Autonomy CEO. "Because Autonomy automates the most costly and inefficient operations of an e-business infrastructure, system integrators and web developers will be able to deliver unique solutions which solve their customers' critical business problems".

Among the companies already reselling or implementing Autonomy's technology include Alcatel, Cap Gemini, CMS Information Services, Computer Sciences Corporation, Conda.net, Convey, Debis, DynamicWeb, FranceNet, IC Group, Information Highway, Interactive1 Group, KPMG, Knowledge Associates, Merkantildata, Morse, NetDecisions, PWC, Perot Systems, PixelPark, Point4, Reply, Rodo Media, SAIC, Sema Group, TS Software, TSA, Unisys, US Web/CKS, and ZYGA Corporation.

About Autonomy, Inc.

Autonomy's technology powers large-scale, personalized solutions for knowledge management, enterprise portals, new media publishing and electronic commerce. Because of its ability to analyze any piece of text (independent of the document's language) and identify and rank the main ideas, Autonomy can automate a broad range of otherwise labor intensive tasks. These range from categorizing information by subject matter, to inserting hypertext links to related material, to profiling users based on the ideas in the text they read or write, to delivering information to those most likely to be interested.

Autonomy (EASDAQ:AUTN) was founded in 1996 and has offices in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C in the United States and European/Asia Pacific offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Cambridge, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Oslo and Sydney.

Among its 160-plus customers are Alcatel, Associated Press, Barclays Bank, British Aerospace, Clorox, News Corp., Procter & Gamble, Lucent Technologies, Merrill Lynch, SF Gate, Semi-tech, The Royal Mail and Unilever. In addition, several software companies are licensing Autonomy's technology to add intelligence to their online publishing, knowledge management, email routing, portal, call center, customer relationship management and document management applications, including Aeneid, Corechange, Delano, FutureTense, Hyperwave, Insight, Intraspect, Global Recall, Nexor, Open Market, Sagemaker and Verge.
