Pseudo and Virage Launch First Video Commerce Engine Dedicated to Computer Gaming

Pseudo Programs' All Games Network Combines Virage Video Search and E-Commerce to Let Consumers Find, Preview and Purchase Top PC and Video Games STREAMING MEDIA WEST CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, California —December 7, 1999—Pseudo Programs' All Games Network (AGN), the Internet's leading computer gaming television network, and Virage Inc., the recognized market leader in interactive video search products and application services, announced the launch of the "1999 AGN Interactive Holiday Game Buying Guide," the first-ever computer game guide that combines the power of Internet video search with e-commerce. AGN's interactive buyers' guide marks the first time consumers can selectively preview actual segments and editorial reviews of the most popular video games online before purchase. Then, from within the same video search engine, customers can easily purchase their game of choice with a one-click transaction.

Using video provided by AGN, Virage designed and implemented the video search architecture and linked it to the existing e-commerce engine for AGN's site (www.agn.com). Via a familiar search engine interface, consumers can find game reviews by title, keyword or genre and watch in-depth video reviews that include footage of the actual game. To complete a purchase, consumers have only to click on the video game's title graphic to link directly to Pseudo's e-commerce partner, the leading online computer and video game retailer, EBWorld.com, where the transaction is quickly processed.

"The amazing part about this project was the speed with which we were able to add this breakthrough feature to our site," said Scot Rubin, founder of the All Games Network. "Virage was able to seamlessly integrate our video content into our site in less than 3 weeks. The Web video experts at Virage have enabled us to transform video selection from a passive viewing experience into an active and engaging Internet experience." "For the first time, computer game fans can actually view a game online before they purchase it. We are thrilled that AGN selected Virage to be part of this breakthrough consumer experience," says Carlos Montalvo, VP of marketing at Virage. "By allowing searchable video previews and e-commerce links in one centralized location, AGN provides consumers with a powerful decision making tool." Designed to provide unbiased reviews for gaming enthusiasts and novice shoppers alike, AGN's interactive buyers' guide offers searchable video previews of PC and console games. The ability to search for and view the clips, which feature actual game footage enhanced by traditional descriptions and reviews, allows consumers to make informed decisions about the games they are buying before purchase. The "searchable clips" option also significantly cuts down on the time it takes to download game footage and information.

AGN experts combed the list of new releases to provide in-depth looks into every aspect of the games, including gameplay (what it is like to play the game), graphics, controls, audio, multiplayer, and overall rating. The staff also provides reviews of games and offers expert opinions. To further simplify the reviews, AGN divided the games into specific genres including Action, Simulation, Adventure, Role Playing and Sports.
