Virage Provides ON24 With Video Search Capabilities for the Online Investor
Online investors can use the Web to quickly find and view relevant video information from CEOs, analysts and other financial experts STREAMING MEDIA WEST CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, California —December 7, 1999—ON24, a financial broadcast network for online investors, and Virage Inc., the recognized market leader in interactive video search products and services, today announced that Virage will be providing users of ON24 the ability to search its extensive video archives using company names, keywords or market names. For the first time, investors can search ON24's extensive video archives of financial market news and company information including TalkOnStocks, video clips of CEOs, market analysts and other financial experts helping them make more informed decisions about where to invest their money.
Working with ON24's pre-encoded video, Virage designed and implemented the video search architecture that gives investors the ability to search by ticker symbol, company name, show title or segment, correspondent and air date. Using keywords, investors can also search on broad topics, such as "e-commerce" to view resulting video clips from a range of experts. The video search engine searches ON24's video archives, which include such programs and features as TalkOnStocks, Analyst Picks and Market Wrap providing investors with both up-to-the-minute news and historic information to facilitate their financial research.
"As more and more investors turn to the Web for financial information, they are demanding more than just charts and graphs—they want expect access to a wide range of information on investment via video," said Mitch Ratcliffe, vice president of programming and editor-in-chief of ON24. "Working with Virage has given our users the ability to quickly and easily search our video archives for information that will help them make smarter investing decisions.""We are excited to be part of ON24's innovative service for the online investor," said Carlos Montalvo, VP of marketing at Virage. "Never before has the general public had this kind of direct, 'from the horse's mouth,' access to financial information. Using searchable video to enhance the research process, ON24 has provided investors with a powerful analysis tool." The TalkOnStocks Webcast is hosted by Bob Nixon and gives investors, analysts and the business community the information, market views and industry buzz that they need to invest wisely in the networked economy.
