Snap.com to distribute Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine

Snap.com becomes first internet portal service to distribute Virage and C-SPAN's Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine Campaign 2000 to be distributed on both Snap.com and Snap.com For Higher-Speed Users San Francisco and San Mateo, Calif. - September 13, 1999 - Snap.com today announced an agreement to distribute Virage Inc.'s and C-SPAN's groundbreaking Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine, dedicated to the upcoming presidential election season. Campaign 2000 will be available on both Snap.com (www.snap.com) and Snap.com For Higher-Speed Users (http://speed.snap.com), the first multimedia portal designed for high speed Internet users.

The Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine will launch on Snap.com services later this month and will offer users a searchable, comprehensive streaming video collection of presidential candidates on the campaign trail delivering speeches, participating in debates, holding press conferences and appearing at party fundraisers. Campaign 2000 will be updated continuously throughout the upcoming primaries and general elections, providing instant access to over a thousand hours of video footage devoted to the presidential candidates.

The Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine will utilize Virage Interactive services to provide Snap.com users with simple, search engine-style access to the breadth and depth of video programming compiled on C-SPAN as the network follows the candidates on the campaign trail. This new application will be spotlighted as an integral feature of Snap.com's comprehensive election coverage that will offer voters a range of information and tools designed to help citizens understand the issues and the candidates.

"As the first Internet portal service to make the Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine available, Snap.com continues its leadership in providing compelling multimedia content to users of all connection speeds," said Edmond Sanctis, Chief Operating Officer of Snap.com. "Snap is pleased to be working with Virage and C-SPAN to deliver this breakthrough video resource to voters via our flagship service and our groundbreaking rich media portal, Snap.com For Higher-Speed Users." "Virage is excited to be working with Snap.com on this ground-breaking effort," said Paul Lego, CEO of Virage. "Snap.com's implementation of the Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine will not only allow users to experience the power of video delivered via the Internet, it should dramatically affect the way the American public selects their next President." By entering keywords into the new Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine, Snap.com users will be able to search by candidate, party, campaign issue or location. As such, users will be able to search for and view video material on such topics as taxes, gun control, abortion, education, foreign policy and more. Users also will be able to compare and contrast statements made by a candidate as he or she speaks to voters in different regions of the country. Additionally, Campaign 2000 will allow users to track a candidate's position on a topic by date throughout the campaign season.

The Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine will be part of C-SPAN's broader Campaign 2000 coverage, which continues throughout the presidential elections in November of 2000 and concludes on the Inauguration in January 2001. Voters and all interested citizens of the world will be able to access the Campaign 2000 Video Search Engine through a variety of Internet sites such as C-SPAN.org, Snap.com, Snap.com For Higher-Speed Users and other third-party sites.

Snap.com, the fastest-growing major Internet portal, is slated to be merged with several NBC Internet assets and XOOM.com, Inc., (NASDAQ: XMCM), one of the fastest growing community-based sites on the Web and a leading direct e-commerce services company, to form one of the first publicly traded Internet companies combining these services in a strategic relationship with a major broadcast television network, subject to approval by the stockholders of XOOM.com. The new company, to be called NBC Internet (NBCi), will use Snap.com as its umbrella consumer brand, integrating broadcast, portal, and e-commerce services.
