Autonomy Continues Expansion Into Europe With New Technology Partners

June 16, 1999 - Autonomy Corporation plc, the Cambridge based technology company, has today announced partnership deals with six major telecommunications and technology companies in Europe to apply its core knowledge management and new media technology to new markets. Autonomy's partners include:

  • Alcatel France, one of the largest international telecommunications and Internet service providers, with 120 000 employees worldwide in 130 countries and revenues of $25 billion in 1998.
  • Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) Switzerland, one of the largest providers of information technology services to commercial and government markets worldwide.
  • IC Group, Netherlands, the leading system integrator and business consultancy in Holland, developing powerful IT applications for telecommunications and publishing companies.
  • Convey, Italy , one of the leading Italian providers of integrated solutions focused in developing Internet, Knowledge Management and New Media applications for medium and large organizations.
  • Reply, Italy , a consortium of companies specialised in providing applications to the telecommunications market. Clients include Olivetti, Wind (the third largest mobile operator in Italy).
  • Weka, Germany the largest business-to-business publishing company in Europe.

These partnerships follow Autonomy's acquisition of a significant share holding in a successful Scandinavian operation formerly called Intracon - now renamed Autonomy Nordic. Autonomy Nordic, based in Oslo and Stockholm, will cover all Scandinavian territories as well as Baltic States and Poland. Autonomy's software is uniquely capable of analysing and understanding the main ideas in any text, consequently, it can automate the categorisation, hypertext linking, personalisation and delivery of large amounts of corporate information - in any language.

Autonomy currently has its core technology working in all major languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Arabic, Thai, Japanese and Korean. Dominic Johnson, Autonomy's European Marketing Director, explained, "These European partnerships, coming on the back of Autonomy's recent acquisition of Intracon in Scandinavia, are strategically important for Autonomy and consolidate Autonomy's position as one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world. We will be working with some of the most influential and well-respected technology companies in Europe and we are looking forward to these relationships being beneficial for all of us."
