Virage and TECMATH partner to deliver complete cataloging and content management system
TecMath, turns to searchable video specialist, Virage, to provide complete solution for broadcasting and media industries June 11, 1999--The Digital Media Division of TECMATH GmbH & Co KG, Europe's leading content management system provider joins Virage Developer Program.
TECMATH will integrate Virage's automatic cataloguing technology into their content management system media archive® and deliver integrated solutions to broadcasters and companies active in the areas of media and entertainment, advertising, corporate communications and publishing.
"To minimise costs, companies working with content have the need for a content management solution that allows for easy archiving, indexing and effective re-use of their material," comments Dr. Peter Thomas, chief technology officer, TECMATH's DIGITAL MEDIA DIVISION.
"Virage has a world-wide reputation for providing automatic cataloguing and indexing technology for video and audio assets. Integrating this technology into the ingest step of the media archive® allows us to provide the customer with rich search terms even while material is registered with the system - without any human intervention," says Mark Rattley, managing director, Virage Europe.
"The co-operation with Virage continues our strategy to bring together best-of-breed technology and latest research results and deliver integrated solutions. We believe that the results of this co-operation will make media archive® an even more effective solution for the content management problems of our customers," continues Thomas.
media archive® is the outcome of over four years of intense development. It is based on the results of the Esprit project EUROMEDIA, which has been initiated and co-ordinated by TECMATH. In this project, several technology providers closely co-operated with five major European broadcasters (BBC, ORF, SDR, SWF, SVT) in order to develop core components of a content management and archiving system that really fits the needs of the broadcasting industry.
