Bulldog and Virage Demonstrate End-to-end Video Logging And Content Management Solution
Content Providers, Broadcasters and Interactive Broadcasters benefit from seamless integration of Virage's searchable video technology with Bulldog's enterprise content management solution.
LAS VEGAS, Nevada--April 19, 1999--The Bulldog Group, Inc., the leading content management software and consulting services provider, and Virage, Inc., the pioneer and recognized market leader in providing products and technologies that make video searchable, today demonstrated Virage's VideoLogger™ application integrated into Bulldog's enterprise content management solution. Demonstrations of the end-to-end video library solution, which features logging, browsing, searching and retrieval of digital video content, can be seen at the Bulldog booth #S6652.
Virage's VideoLogger is a Windows NT application that runs on a standard Pentium II PC. VideoLogger "watches, listens to and reads" video, automatically extracting a wealth of information including keyframes, audio profiles, closed captioned text and time codes that serves as a frame accurate index back to the video. This index can now be saved directly into Bulldog's scalable content management solution, providing a single data store for the index and source video as well as multiple digitized versions of the video. Once in Bulldog, the video content and its associated information can be organized, stored, searched and distributed globally in a secure, reliable manner.
"Organizations are looking for a total solution when addressing their digital media management needs," said John McCormick, Research Analyst, Frost & Sullivan. "This agreement between Virage and Bulldog provides that solution by integrating leading video cataloging and storage management systems.""Virage and Bulldog have teamed up to create the first video management solution optimized to meet the information needs our large corporate customers," said, Mark Basler, Marketing Director for Avid Technology's Corporate, Education and Government Division. "This solution provides AVID the complimentary product foundation to aggressively pursue markets where the production and reuse of video is primarily driven by a distributed desktop environment.""The ability for organizations to quickly search, track and identify video content has an impact on bottom line revenue," said Chris Strachan, Chief Executive Officer of The Bulldog Group, Inc. "By integrating Bulldog's content management infrastructure with Virage's video indexing software, customers benefit from a searchable video library, preserving their video investments and allowing them to exploit new licensing and marketing revenue opportunities.""Bulldog's content management software has been widely adopted by leading media and coporate organizations looking to manage their media assets," said Paul Lego, Chief Executive Officer of Virage. "Combining Virage's VideoLogger with Bulldog's content management software provides organizations with the capability to search and browse through vast video libraries within Bulldog's powerful media management solution." Bulldog enables content-rich organizations to effectively organize, store, search, retrieve, and distribute media content across virtual private networks (VPNs) and intranets. Bulldog leverages the power of open, industry-standard technologies such as Java and CORBA to create a scalable solution that can be extended to handle generations of media and user growth.
