iXL and Virage Team to Deliver Custom, Web-based Searchable Video Solutions

LAS VEGAS, Nevada--April 19, 199--iXL Inc., a leading strategic Internet services company, and Virage, Inc., the recognized leader in providing products and technologies that make video searchable, today announced that iXL has joined the Virage Developer Program and will be a preferred Virage systems integrator. iXL and Virage will work together to market, sell and deliver Web-based media solutions that are based on Virage's line of searchable video products, specifically to companies in the areas of broadcast, media & entertainment, advertising, marketing, corporate communications, publishing, retail, online learning, and travel.

iXL assists clients in efficiently managing a broad array of digital and analog assets, from the moment of inception to final distribution. iXL will provide custom application design, development and systems integration for customers and Virage will provide its VideoLogger™, AudioLogger™, Video Search Tools and related development tools for iXL to integrate into customer-defined solutions.

"Global 2000 companies are beginning to develop Web-based information systems that incorporate significant amounts of digital video," said Paul Lego, Chief Executive Officer of Virage. "iXL's expertise and reach into this market, combined with Virage's software will provide these organizations with a powerful way to leverage and use video effectively throughout the enterprise." "We provide our clients the ability to index and catalog video and audio with Virage and extend these tools into their existing post-production environments, including nonlinear video editing, database applications, automation and distribution systems, and E-Commerce channels," said Jonathan Ballon, SVP & General Manager of iXL's Digital Media Management Group.

"In addition, this functionality may be extended into database applications, automation and distribution systems, and e-commerce channels. Ultimately, Virage provides the baseline functionality that is critical to an end-to-end media management solution for the enterprise." iXL offers its clients expertise in media creation processes, handling time-based media such as video and audio, integrating systems across any and all media management products and legacy applications, and leveraging alternative distribution channels and revenue sources for a company's media assets.

"Digital Video has become increasingly important to many of iXL's large scale projects for our financial services, travel, media & entertainment and high tech clients focusing on E-Commerce and online training," said Lorin Coles, VP of Strategic Alliances at iXL. "Our relationship with Virage allows us to easily implement Virage technology making digital media more accessible to our clients and their customers." Virage's VideoLogger™ and AudioLogger™ applications make video searchable. The product suite "watches, listens to and reads" video, automatically extracting information that enables users to search for and find segments of interest to them. Searchable video promotes video from a passive viewing experience to one that is fully interactive, giving users control over what they want to see, when they want to see it. Companies are relying on Virage to transform traditional video into searchable video, creating premium Web sites, intranets and extranets that let their customers, partners and employees quickly and easily access the vast amount of information contained in video.
