Minerva Systems, Virage and DES Deliver Powerful New Solution For Digitizing and Distributing Searchable Video

Searchable MPEG1 and MPEG2 Video Makes Digital Dailies a Snap MOUNTAIN VIEW and SAN MATEO, Calif.--April 14, 1999--Leading technology providers Minerva Systems and Virage, Inc. have teamed with DES, a premiere digital solutions integrator in the entertainment industry, to unveil an automated solution for MPEG1 and MPEG2 video encoding, cataloging, and distribution at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention in Las Vegas, NV, April 19-22.

Through a joint partnership with Minerva and Virage, DES has developed a software integration of Minerva's VNP (Video Network Platform--a network based, MPEG encoding appliance) and Virage's VideoLogger™ and AudioLogger™ applications. The solution provides improved access to video, while also dramatically reducing the time and expense of cataloging and encoding video. It will be on display throughout NAB at Minerva's booth (#S6659) and Virage's booth (#S1531) in the Sands Convention Center.

"The integration of Minerva's revolutionary network video encoder appliance with Virage's VideoLogger and AudioLogger is a powerful solution that will help change the way digital video is produced and managed, especially as it relates to distributing digital dailies," says Reed Majors, Director of Video Networking, Minerva Systems. "Virage and DES emerged as obvious partners for us because of their strong technology, clear understanding of the market, and compelling product vision." "Early on, we were drawn to the convenience and scalability of both Minerva and Virage's products," states DES Director of Advanced Technology, Eric Norberg. "Our software combines the two products into a solution which meets the requirements of our entertainment industry clientele." "DES and Minerva are leaders in the entertainment, television and video production markets," adds Carlos Montalvo, Vice President of Marketing of Virage. "This is a powerful, off-the-shelf solution that promises to simplify the process of distributing high resolution searchable video throughout an enterprise or around the world."
