Verity KeyView Technology Embeded in Lotus Notes R5

KeyView Replaces INSO as Viewing Technology in Newest Version of Lotus Notes

ORLANDO, Fla - 1999-01-18 - Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of knowledge retrieval solutions for the enterprise and Internet, today at Lotusphere '99 announced that its OEM relationship with Lotus Development Corp. (NYSE: IBM) now includes KeyView technology. Lotus has embedded KeyView, Verity's enterprise information viewing solution, into Lotus Notes R5, replacing technology from INSO which shipped with earlier versions of Lotus' product.

KeyView is designed to save organizations time and money by making it easy for Lotus Notes users to review and exchange information contained in attachments without launching or even having a document's native application on their desktop. As the viewing technology embedded in Lotus Notes R5, KeyView is designed to offer fast, high-fidelity viewing of word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, compressed, graphic, fax and multimedia files.

Solving the backward compatibility issue of many software office suites, KeyView makes it easy to share business-critical information and legacy documents. KeyView supports all popular document formats, including Lotus SmartSuite 97, Lotus SmartSuite Millenium Edition and Asian Lotus SmartSuite. The product is also designed to support the soon-to-be-released Microsoft Office 2000, Corel WordPerfect Suite 8, Asian Microsoft Office, and particularly useful for government customers, the full Applixware Office Suite. Additionally, with KeyView, users can view popular multimedia files, whether they are in AVI, MPEG, QuickTime, MIDI, WAV, AU or AIFF format.

"By embedding KeyView, Lotus is helping its customers solve real enterprise business problems by giving them access to virtually all types of business- critical documents," said Rob Miller, General Manager of Verity's KeyView Business Unit. "We are pleased Lotus has chosen KeyView for its reliable performance and high-fidelity viewing technology inside of Lotus Notes R5."
