QUALCOMM Selects Verity's Keyview Viewers

New KeyView Plug-in to be Bundled with Eudora Productivity Toolkit Package

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - 1997-07-23 - Verity, Incorporated (Nasdaq:VRTY), a leading provider of search and retrieval technology for the enterprise and Internet/Intranet, today announced an agreement with QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM), a world leader in wireless communications and advanced electronic messaging solutions for the Internet, to bundle a limited version of Verity's KeyView technology with the Eudora Productivity Toolkit package. The KeyView 5.1 Plug-in for Eudora will enable Eudora users to view and print more than 25 popular file types directly from within Eudora Pro v3.0.3 for Windows.

The Verity KeyView 5.1 Plug-In for Eudora allows users to easily view and print attachments in the most popular file types. This custom Eudora version of KeyView provides Eudora Pro e-mail users with support for more than 25 file formats · giving them a high-fidelity view of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and HTML documents. Users will be able to view attachments directly from within Eudora Pro software by double-clicking on the mail attachment.

Verity is providing an upgrade path to Eudora Pro e-mail users by offering the full versions of KeyView and KeyView Pro as extensions to the Plug-in bundled with the Toolkit. KeyView and KeyView Pro are leading utilities that allow Windows users to view, convert, compress and secure up to 200 types of files " whether encountered on the Internet, corporate intranets, received as e-mail attachments or found on a hard drive or network. KeyView can be used as a stand-alone application, integrated with your e-mail or groupware application, or act as a plug-in to your web browsers.

"Reflecting QUALCOMM's continuing commitment to provide our millions of customers with market leading, robust and easy-to-use tools for electronic communications, we have partnered with best-of-class solutions to e-mail's key hurdles," said Jeff Jacobs, vice president and general manager of QUALCOMM's Eudora division. "Placing our customers' needs and preferences above all else has made the Eudora family of software products the world leader in Internet e-mail. Partnering with industry leaders like Verity ensures that we maintain our market and technology leadership."

"We are excited that QUALCOMM has selected KeyView to address one of the biggest needs of its users," said Robert M. Miller, vice president and general manager for Verity Canada, Ltd. " KeyView Business Unit. "The integration of KeyView's technology means that, in addition to Eudora's other e-mail capabilities, e-mail recipients will have the ability to view and print e-mail attachments even if they do not have the original application that created them."

Pricing and Availability

Upon the commercial availability of the Eudora Productivity Toolkit package, Verity will be offering an upgrade for Eudora Pro software users at a single user U.S. list price of $39 for KeyView Pro 5.1 and $29 for KeyView 5.1 without PGP encryption. Both KeyView Pro 5.1 and KeyView 5.1 are available on CD-ROM in both 32-bit and 16-bit versions for all current Windows platforms. KeyView is widely available through channel partners such as Ingram Micro and Software Spectrum, and is a top seller on Software.net. Corporate licenses of KeyView and KeyView Pro are available directly from Verity. Upgrade information for Eudora Productivity Toolkit software users, as well as a 30-day evaluation copy of KeyView, can be obtained on Verity's KeyView web site at http://www.keyview.com/eudora.html.
