Northern Telecom Selects Verity's SEARCH'97 CD-Web Platform for CD/Online Technical Documentation Service

SEARCH'97 Technology Combined With Nortel's Helmsman Project Offers CD-ROM Users An Integrated Web Connection

Northern Telecom and Verity, Inc., (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of search and retrieval applications for the enterprise and the Internet, today announced an agreement under which Nortel will use Verity's SEARCH'97 CD-Web Publisher technology to provide its customers with CD-based technical documentation. As a result of the agreement, customers will have access to both CD-ROM and online capabilities for technical support and up-to-date information.

The SEARCH'97 product suite includes SEARCH'97 Information Server, SEARCH'97 CD-Web Publisher, Agent Server SEARCH'97 Agent Server Toolkit, SEARCH'97 Developer's kit, SEARCH'97 Personal for Microsoft Exchange and SEARCH'97 Information Server for Microsoft Exchange. Verity is expanding the product line to include it's SEARCH'97 Personal products for Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, which are scheduled for availability in February 1997, as well as IntelliServ for SEARCH'97 scheduled for delivery in May 1997. Verity is also expanding the product line to include a number of intelligent search components that enhance query ease and accuracy, enable the visualization of information and expand information navigation capabilities.
