Autonomy Announces Personalization Partnership With News Corporation And British Telecom
Autonomy is the only company in the world that produces technology to enable true personalization of information based on learning a user's preferences. Autonomy's Agentware i3 server product line dynamically learns user preferences to deliver personalized information on demand.
March 10, 1997 - Los Angeles, CA. Today, at Internet World, Autonomy, Inc. premiers its Agentware i3 Server personalization technology on LineOne, one of the worlds largest Internet services. LineOne, which launched today in the United Kingdom, is a joint venture between Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and British Telecom.
LineOne represents the first application of Agentware i3 Server technology which delivers personalized information by automatically learning the preferences and needs of the user. LineOne provides a vast array of news and sports content, as well as games, educational information and reference material from News Corporation sources including: HarperCollins, The Times of London and Sky Television.
Agentware i3 Server brings personalization to this tremendous amount of constantly changing information, by dynamically linking content and suggesting other topics which may be of interest to the user. For example, a user reading a news story about Eric Clapton winning a Grammy award will automatically be offered a biography of him, as well as a review of his latest CD or details of an upcoming tour.
"The unique benefits which Agentware i3 Server brings to LineOne is that it enables content to be branded and tailored to the needs of the users. It increases the sense of brand identity and loyalty, thereby increasing the user's desire to return to the site. This lays the foundation for many interesting new commercial activities because of the unique dialog established between LineOne and the user," says Chuck Swenberg, Vice President of Business Development at Autonomy.
According to Andrew Burke, Managing Director of LineOne, "Autonomy's revolutionary technology has added significant value to LineOne, making it more valuable and entertaining to our subscribers."
Agentware i3 Server technology is based on the Dynamic Reasoning Engine (DRE), a platform technology developed by Cambridge Neurodynamics Limited, a world leader in the commercial application of Neural Network and pattern recognition technologies based in Cambridge, U.K. The DRE has been successfully deployed in mission-critical applications in defense, law enforcement and other enterprises worldwide.
"We will be announcing in the coming months specific products in the Agentware i3 Server product line as well as a number of strategic relationships. Agentware i3 Server, short for 'intelligent information infrastructure', is a product line which enables content providers such as commercial websites, online services, electronic publishers and corporate Intranets to maximize the value of their content by delivering it in a personalized manner. We're here to make information delivery intelligent, through personalization," said Des Cahill, Vice President of Marketing at Autonomy.
